WELFARE SYSTEM POOL – Draft 1.1

Background:

A community is made of people

Healthy people creates healthy relationships (environment). Healthy relationship (environment) creates healthy people. This is in the theory of complexity (Morin) is called “recursive loop” (in this case: individuals influence the environment that influences individuals)

Healthy individuals and healthy relationships create a healthy community; a healthy community is the minimum factor for the success of a Dao.

Without a community, there’s no Dao.

What is the aim of this proposal?

Foster the development of a safe environment where every talent can flourish, where every individual can feel protected and cared. Encourage behaviors inspired by values such as trust, honesty, openness, assertiveness, cooperation, care, willingness to grow and share (grow while sharing)

What’s the problem?

A corollary of the great freedom within the Dao world is that the individual is often left alone in the face of increasingly common problems such as lack of direction, anxiety and burnout syndrome, the result of an extremely competitive environment that is perceived as "unsafe."

Although various studies show that competition brings results in the short run, in the long run it’s detrimental to the relationships within the community, and ultimately to the community itself. When an individual perceives an environment as unsafe, he or she is naturally inclined to engage in escape/aggression behaviors, and/or to prioritize their own individual needs over those of the group

There is no safety system within the Dao world for which the whole community takes care of: 1. The goodness of relationships and working environment 2. The individual psychological health of its members and their personal growth. 3. The creation of a "schismogenically neutral" system of competition-in-cooperation through the culture of trust and sharing.

I believe that every Dao should allocate part of its resources to the creation of such a security system.

Proposal

Allocate funds for the creation of a welfare security pool, in order to finance:

  1. Facilitated group sessions (actually named “campfires”) aimed at:
    1. Fostering the climate of openness and mutual trust, fertile soil for the development of a creative, productive and sustainable work environment. This is to prevent issues.
    2. Collectively discuss any eventual issue within the working environment (every team or group of people can access this tool when required)
    3. Forster openness and trust openly discussing “sensible topics”
    4. Educate (also through workshops) on the development of soft skills necessary (starting with self-leadership) for individual well-being and the maintenance of a positive work environment.
    5. à This kind of intervention in my opinion is fully funded by the welfare pool,
  2. Individual coaching/counseling/mentoring sessions:
    1. Individual coaching/counseling sessions that community members can use to discuss topics of their choice, from professional growth to personal problems.

The spirit behind this initiative is to generate unity in the community and make everyone feel that individual problems are taken in charge by community through this system of tailored support. Of course a practical corollary is that happy, healthy members will be better community members.

Also, we don’t have a staff training and talent development program

  1. Let’s leverage the talents already present in the community: in Aragon we have several talented coaches, and through this initiative we could attract more.
