ONBOARDING ARTICLE BEGINS
WHAT IS ONBOARDING?
Onboarding from the perspective of a DAO is described as the process by which new members acquire the knowledge, skills, and context necessary to become engaged community members, and effective contributors and core team members.
It is important to differentiate between Community members, Contributors and Core Team Members. Below are a few definitions to help clarify:
- Community Member: Any token holder participating in the communication platforms, including the DAO’s Discord server, Telegram group, Forum, online and offline gatherings, and/or other groups and platforms.
- Contributors: The definition of a “Contributor” varies slightly from DAO to DAO as each organization has its own unique structure, objectives and therefore tasks that it needs people to assist with. In general, a Contributor is: a community member that supports the DAO by completing specific tasks for the DAO in exchange for project based or guild based compensation. Usually via bounty or proposal based model.
- Core Team Members: An individual working full time for the DAO, most heavily involved in the development of the product/service offering, usually bound by some form of a more traditional employment contract or proposal.
